Welcome to this video on Assignment Overview: Data Warehouse Design & Setup. After watching this video, you will be able to: Identify the main objective of the assignment. Describe the tasks in the assignment. You are a data engineer hired by FinPro Bank. FinPro Bank, a mid-sized financial institution, serves a diverse customer base and offers a range of financial products, including savings accounts, loans, and credit cards. The bank would like to create a data warehouse so that it can create reports like Total customers per branch Total customers per country Total transaction amount per branch Total monthly transaction volume You will use your data warehousing skills to design and implement a data warehouse for the bank. In this assignment of the Data Warehouse Design and Setup, you will build a data warehouse module. In the first exercise, you will design and create a staging data warehouse environment using pgAdmin and PostgreSQL. Then, you will deploy the production warehouse for reporting purposes using Db2 on Cloud. The first exercise in this assignment requires you to design a data warehouse. The FinPro Bank has provided you with sample data, and you will start your project by designing a star schema for the warehouse by identifying the columns for the various dimensions and fact tables in the schema. You will name your database finpromart and then use the ERD design tool in pgAdmin to design the table finproDimDate using fields such as DateID, Month, Monthname, and so on. And the bank would like to have the ability to generate reports on a yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily basis. You will use the ERD design tool to design the dimension tables finproDimBranches, finproDimCountries, finproDimCities, finproDimAccountTypes, finproDimCustomers, and finproFactTransactions. You will also use the ERD design tool to design the required relationships, for example, one-to-one, one-to-many, and so on among the tables. And finally, after performing each task, you will take a screenshot of the entire ERD clearly showing all the field names, data types, and relationships among the tables. In the second exercise, you will load the data into the data warehouse. Your senior data engineer reviews your design and makes a few improvements to your schema design. The data, as per the improved schema, is available at a link. You will download the data and restore it into a database named "staging" using the pgAdmin tool. And after performing this task, you will take a screenshot showing the success of data restoration. In this video, you learned that: You will use your data warehousing skills to design and implement a data warehouse for the bank.
